Christmas dishes - "Julbord"
 
The newspaper "Sydsvenska Dagbladet" wrote this about our Christmas dinner dishes in 1998:
Svaneholms Castle
Such is the food at Svaneholms Castles Restaurant. Every dish on the enormous table is a delicacy, and they are so many that they are almost hard to take in.
The palate cannot be other than overwhelmed. The great amount of small herring always have the best different kind of traditional taste. It is aroma, not sharpness. But the "new fashion" curry- and garlic- (and so on) sorts of herring are not allowed on this table.
In Sweden we have the tradition to drink schnaps to our herring. And the seasoning of the schnaps is tasteful and aromatic.
The taste of the dishes in the cold buffet is as good as the small herring, with delicious sausages, pattys, brawns and various small pieces of meat. To the lovely Christmas ham you can choose between three sorts of mustard, each one as tasteful as the other. Among the main courses we'll notify the stockfish with a tender but delicious mustard sauce. The huge Swedish meatballs are also lovely.
Only the table of desserts is surprisingly simple. You can choose between sweet sauce and milk to the porridge, but except for some chocolate, there are no more sweets.
Well, at this time you are already so full, that eating more would risk your health. But the quality of the food is so high that the feeling of saturation is not painful. When you leave the Restaurant you already plan a new visit here.
Even the dining-room itself is a kind of dish, with old portrait paintings and tapestries on the walls. Two beautiful chandeliers are hanging over the table, which is crowned with candles. The room is decorated in red and dark blue. The soft chairs are comfortable, even during a long lasting Christmas dinner like this. The staff are both skilled and nice. Therefore - It's impossible to not be satisfied here at Svaneholms Castles Inn.
