The School

Baron Rutger Macklean was a pioneer in many ways. Par example he inaugurated compulsory school attendance for children from the peasant families who lived at his domains, many years before this type of school became law in Sweden.
The School in the museum was moved here in 1942, 100 years after compulsory school attendance was introduced in Sweden.
This is all history today, but many people still living in Sweden have had their first education in a classroom like this.
