The Corner Salon
PHOTO: HÅKAN CERNE
This salon was a kind of public room for the former nobility families of Svaneholm. It was the room where they went a nights, the men for conversation and smoking, the women for doing needlework. Sometimes they had some of the "cavaliers" from the neighborhood as guests. (Cavalier is a French word for a nobility man with good manners)
Admire the magnificent furnishing in "Karl Johan-style", the style that was modern during the first half of the 19th century, the age of crinolines. (Karl XIV Johan was king of Sweden 1814 - 1844)
One of the portrait paintings on the wall imagine count Augustin Ehrensvärd, Svaneholms last private owner.
